How to tie a tie

Tying a tie can seem daunting at first, but with a bit of practice, it can become quite easy. Here’s how to tie a standard four-in-hand knot:

  1. Start with the tie around your neck, with the wider end on your right side and the narrow end on your left side.
  2. Cross the wide end over the narrow end, then bring it up and over the loop around your neck.
  3. Take the wide end and bring it down through the loop in front of your neck.
  4. Cross the wide end over the narrow end again, then bring it up and over the loop around your neck for a second time.
  5. Bring the wide end down through the loop in front of your neck again, this time tucking it behind the knot you have created.
  6. Use your fingers to adjust the knot to your desired tightness, and make sure it’s centered on your collar.
  7. Finally, tuck the narrow end of the tie behind the wide end and adjust the length as necessary.

With a bit of practice, you can tie a tie in no time at all!
